A word from our Musical Director...

Thomas Tallis's Spem in Alium is somehow ahead of its time and therefore full of intrigue and wonder. Southern Voices will welcome alumni members to join in performing this extraordinary work. St Cross is the ideal venue for its performance, with a generous yet spacious acoustic, allowing the blend of sound to encompass the audience. As the choir will surround you, music will come from all corners of the building as each of the eight choirs interjects its musical statements.

Henryk Górecki and Eric Whitacre are the newer faces on this programme, with works that take advantage of the acoustic whilst being celebratory in text. Stephen Paulus uses a mediaeval text but with a modern flavour, again a celebration of the past and present. Further works by the Renaissance greats celebrate some of their finest compositions which we can’t wait to perform for you.
