Canticles of Light
St John's Church, New Alresford
12th July 2025, 7:30pm
A fabulous, midsummer evening of choral music with Southern Voices Consort including tubular bells! There will be all the joy of an English high summer, dizzying folksong arrangements by Bob Chilcott, Eric Whitacre in playful mood, a traditional Newfoundland fishing song! and a classic spiritual with a modern twist. At the heart of the evening, Jamal has chosen two modern classics: Bob Chilcott Canticles of Light and Morten Lauridsen Lux Aeterna (eternal light).
Songs of Farewell
St Paul's Church, Winchester
8th November 2025, 7:30pm
We return to St Paul’s for our Remembrance-tide concert.
Our series continues with a programme reflecting on hope that is born from loss and sad farewells. Hubert Parry’s Songs of Farewell form the core of the programme: six motets, based on texts spanning the 16th to the 19th century and concluding with extracts from Psalm 39 which seek to look beyond the horror of war to the surety of reunion and repose in heaven.

Choral Scholarship
Southern Voices are excited to announce our Choral Scholarship programme. This is an opportunity for young singers to sing with us, all expenses paid, thanks to generous sponsorship by the D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust.
We have already recruited two fine soprano scholars singing with us this year. For next year, we are looking to introduce one choral scholar into each voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor and bass). Applications are open till June 2025, with candidates auditioning in July 2025.
